From egg to world: watch the fascinating spectacle directly from the nest box
Thanks to a pilot project monitoring birds in their natural habitat at the Center for Natural Science Education of the Faculty of Science at UJEP and the placement of a microcamera in a birdhouse, we were able to observe online the incredible journey of titmice—from the first days when the great tit begins nesting, through laying eggs, caring for the clutch and young, to the moment when the chicks leave the box.
Video compilation of the most interesting moments
If you were also interested in this project and occasionally looked into the birdhouse with us, or if you missed it, we have prepared a video compilation of the most important moments from this fascinating bird show. You will see how the titmice nested, how the titmouse sits on the eggs, how the first chicks hatch, how the parents care for their offspring, and how the chicks gradually grow stronger until they are able to leave the nest on their own.
Interview for Český rozhlas Sever
Are you interested in learning more about the entire project? Or would you like to know more details about the life of titmice? Listen to today’s interview with Slávka Brádlová on the program Host Dopoledního expresu Českého rozhlasu Sever with the head of the Center for Natural Science Education at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, doc. PhDr. Kateřina Jančaříková, Ph.D.
We believe that our camera box will soon be discovered by new bird visitors and that we will be able to observe another bird story together.
