Our students won the cyber security competition
All three first places in the first round of this year’s National Competition of the Czech Republic in Cyber Security 2024/25 in the category “19+” were taken by our students from the Department of Computer Science Tomáš Přibyl, Jan Chlouba and David Bartoš. Congratulations to the students!
This year’s 9th edition of the cyber security competition for young people aged 9 to 24 is organized by the Cyber Security Centre and its partners. The competition is organized as one of the activities of the European Cyber Security Month in the Czech Republic and is part of the European Commission’s European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) initiative implemented by the European Cyber Security Agency ENISA.
The main sponsors of the competition are the Cyber Security Centre, z.ú. and the National Office for Cyber and Information Security (NCIS). Other expert sponsors include state institutions, universities and non-profit associations that have long been involved in cyber security and cyber defence.
The cyber competition is a knowledge and skills competition in the field of cyber security and information and communication systems.
The competition produces materials that can serve as a methodological tool for educating students in cybersecurity, information and communication technologies and programming, not only for secondary school teachers.
The competition is organised for all students of primary, secondary and higher education in the Czech Republic, aged 9 to 24, regardless of the school’s focus.
7,751 people registered for the first round of the 9th edition of the competition, while 6,663 participants started the first round test. More than 1,500 students will advance to the second round, which will be held online at the turn of the year. The best participants of the second round will be invited to the national final, which will take place on 9 and 10 April 2025 in Brno.
Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem is involved in the implementation of the Cybernetic Competition not only through the participation of students, but also a representative of the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Science of the Jagiellonian University RNDr. Jan Krejčí, Ph.D. is a direct part of the implementation team of the competition. And the patronage over the competition was taken over directly by the Rector of the University doc. RNDr. Jaroslav Koutský, Ph.D.
