From the forests of northern Bohemia to state-of-the-art laboratories. Come and take a look at the world of biological research

The Department of Biology at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, invites students from all degree programmes, academic staff and other interested parties to a series of two specialist lectures, which will take place on Tuesday 13 October 2026 from 12:00 at the Centre for Natural Sciences and Environmental Studies (CBEO) on the Department’s Za Válcovnou campus.

These lectures, delivered by our colleagues and external experts, form part of a seminar for Bachelor’s and Master’s theses; however, they are open to anyone interested in biology, current research and the opportunity to broaden their horizons beyond the scope of their own field of study or research.

In his lecture, Mgr. Martin Kříž will present research into fungi (macromycetes) in north-western Bohemia and outline the specialist work being carried out in this field, whilst Mgr. Anna Čimová’s presentation will focus on plant and fungal extracellular vesicles as natural carriers of bioactive substances with potential for sustainable plant protection.

Come along to hear about these fascinating topics, gain new insights and meet colleagues from other fields of the natural sciences.
