How to teach mathematics to students aged 10–16: UJEP hosts a national conference for teachers
Ústí nad Labem, October 2025 – J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem (UJEP), in cooperation with the Society of Mathematics Teachers at the Czech Mathematical and Physical Society (SUMA JČMF), is organizing a traditional national conference for mathematics teachers entitled How to Teach Mathematics to Students Aged 10–16 on October 16–18, 2025.
The event is jointly organized by the Faculty of Science of UJEP and the Department of Pre-primary and Primary Education of the Faculty of Education of UJEP, which focuses on the development of modern training for future teachers and supports innovative approaches to teaching mathematics at the first level of elementary schools.
Every year, the conference brings together dozens of primary and secondary school mathematics teachers, university experts, and practitioners who share their experiences in teaching mathematics and seek ways to make it more understandable and accessible to all students.
The motto of this year’s conference is “Mathematics for Everyone – Mathematics for All.”
The main focus will be on how to help students succeed in mathematics – topics such as the causes of success and failure, possibilities for pedagogical interventions, and specific approaches to teaching students with special educational needs. Attention will also be paid to current trends such as the use of AI in mathematics teaching and the issue of formative assessment of students.
“Mathematics is the foundation of modern education, but it is also a subject that causes anxiety for many students. Our goal is to show that quality teaching and the right approaches can make mathematics accessible to everyone,” says Doc. PaedDr. Petr Eisenmann, CSc., chair of the conference program committee.
The conference is accredited as a continuing education event for educators.
