Research Center for Geography Education and Education in Geography

The research center (GEOEDU) was founded in 2021 at the Department of Geography of the Faculty of Science, UJEP, as a platform connecting geographical research with pedagogical practice.

The GEOEDU center consists of two specialized sections dedicated to various aspects of education and geography:

The Geography Education Section focuses on didactic and pedagogical issues in geography teaching. The aim is to bring new findings from geographical research into teaching at primary and secondary schools and thus support innovation in geographical education. Cooperation with teachers and linking the academic environment with pedagogical practice also play an important role.

The Geography of Education Section examines the spatial aspects of the educational landscape—that is, what conditions for education exist in different regions and how the location of education affects its quality and accessibility. It focuses on the development of spatial thinking and the application of geographical approaches in examining the education system.

The center has long sought to develop geographical thinking, modernize teaching, and ensure equal access to education across different parts of the Czech Republic.
