Christmas special ScienceTalks with Assoc.prof. Pavlík: deanship as a ride on a wild river, what is fascinating about plasma, the vision of our faculty…

This episode of the ScienceTalks podcast is really special for us, because we were visited by Assoc.prof. RNDr. Jaroslav Pavlík, CSc., who served as Dean of the Faculty of Science from 2010 to 2018 and later as Vice Dean for Science and Research. He is now teaching at the Department of Physics. What’s more, he is celebrating his jubilee at this time!

What was it like to leave research in the lab and start working with students? Why does he see his years as dean as a wild river ride? What is fascinating about plasma? We asked this and much more during our interview.

You can listen to our podcast instead of carols, while eating Christmas cookies :), or later on your commute to work or school instead of listening to the radio or music on Spotify and Soundcloud platforms. If you would like to enjoy the podcast with video, you can visit our YouTube channel.

Assoc.prof. Jaroslav Pavlík has been working at UJEP since 1993, first at the Faculty of Education, where he headed the Department of Physics and later was Vice Dean for Science and International Relations. Since 2005, he has been working at the Faculty of Science, which he has headed for two terms as Dean since 2010. He has been instrumental in its development, ensuring quality staffing for the then young faculty, identifying core research topics and teams. Associate Professor Pavlík is not only an excellent mentor, but also an inspiring personality who positively influences students and colleagues.
