Our agave was once again the star of a TV broadcast!
Our agave, which bloomed after 47 years in the greenhouse at the Department of Biology, is becoming a star of the silver screen! You could have seen it yesterday on the “Regional News” program on CNN Prima News!
CNN Prima News aired a report on a rare botanical event in the greenhouse of the Department of Biology at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, where an agave has bloomed. The flowering of these plants is a remarkable natural phenomenon, as for some species it occurs only after several decades of growth, and individual rosettes typically bloom only once in their lifetime. Moreover, under the conditions of Central European greenhouses, this is a relatively unusual occurrence.

The blooming agave has become one of the main attractions of the traditional Cactus and Succulent Exhibition, which you can still visit for free through Friday, June 18, at the Educational Botanical Park of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, UJEP. Visitors thus have a unique opportunity to observe the plant up close at the peak of its life cycle and, at the same time, explore extensive collections of succulents and other botanically interesting species.
