Our students and academics were also honored with the UJEP Rector’s Award.

A total of 38 students and employees of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem received public awards for their work, studies, or creative activities on December 11, 2025. Among them were six students and academics from the Faculty of Science at UJEP.

The 25th annual UJEP Rector’s Awards recognize outstanding scientific, pedagogical, artistic, and applied achievements, as well as exceptional student performance and long-term contributions by technical and administrative staff. In 2025, a total of 21 Rector’s Awards will be presented in 17 categories. Our students and academics received their awards from the hands of UJEP Rector Jaroslav Koutský.

The following individuals from the UJEP Faculty of Science were honored:
Filip Moučka, Ph.D., academic staff member of the Department of Physics, UJEP Faculty of Science
UJEP RECTOR’S AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING AND EXCELLENT RESULTS IN THE FIELD OF TECHNICAL AND NATURAL SCIENCES
Doc. Moučka focuses on computer modeling of aqueous solutions and crystalline salts and their interaction with carbon electrodes and strong electric fields. In 2025, he published four professional articles in the impact journals Journal of Chemical Physics and Journal of Molecular Liquids, and in 2024 and 2025, two of his professional articles were successful in the M1 module of the Czech science evaluation. Another of his publications was nominated for the M1 evaluation in 2026.

RNDr. Adéla Jagerová, Ph.D., academic staff member at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, UJEP
RECTOR’S AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING AND EXCELLENT RESULTS IN THE FIELD OF TECHNICAL AND NATURAL SCIENCES FOR EMPLOYEES UNDER 35
Dr. Jagerová’s scientific work focuses primarily on the preparation and characterization of nanomaterials using physical methods. Her research on nanomaterials has yielded high-quality data, which has been published in 28 scientific journals and earned her first place in the Henri Becquerel Prize for young scientists in the field of nuclear physics.

Mgr. Jakub Hoskovec, student of the doctoral program in Applied Nanotechnology at the Faculty of Science, UJEP
UJEP RECTOR’S AWARD FOR EXCEPTIONAL STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE FIELD OF CREATIVE ACTIVITIES IN TECHNOLOGY, NATURAL SCIENCES, AND ECONOMICS
Mr. Hoskovec developed a unique nanocomposite material for hydrogen capture and storage, which, thanks to a chemically modified nanofiber membrane, achieves an exceptional sorption capacity of 10.6% by weight at a pressure of 4 bar, while conventional materials only achieve 6-7%. The technology opens up the possibility of developing safe low-pressure storage facilities for storing surplus energy from renewable sources, and several companies involved in the hydrogen platform and strategy of the Ústí nad Labem Region have already expressed interest in the results.

As is tradition, the ceremony also included the presentation of scholarships from university donors, who recognized the most successful and active students. Ten long-standing student supporters, including the cities of Ústí nad Labem, Teplice, and Trmice, the Ústí nad Labem city districts, the Ústí nad Labem Economic and Social Council, and health insurance companies, selected 16 students and graduates for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The following students from the Faculty of Science at UJEP were awarded:
Bc. Ladislav Martinovský, student of the master’s program in Applied Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, UJEP
SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE STATUTORY CITY OF TEPLICE FOR THE BEST UJEP STUDENTS RESIDING IN TEPLICE
Ladislav Martinovský received a scholarship for his experimental work on heat generation and transfer during the grinding of granular material with the aim of predicting energy consumption, material temperature degradation, and wear on grinding components. He is currently abroad, and the scholarship was presented to him by other means.

Bc. Matěj Krob, student of the master’s program in Geography at the Faculty of Science, UJEP
SCHOLARSHIP FROM THE MAYOR OF THE MUNICIPAL DISTRICT OF ÚSTÍ N. L.- MĚSTO
In his bachelor’s thesis, “3D Reconstruction and Visualization of the Defunct City District of Ostrov in Ústí nad Labem,” Matěj Krob brought a new perspective on a no longer existing part of the city of Ústí nad Labem – a district that was located at the confluence of the Bíliny and Labe rivers and was destroyed after bombing in 1945. Using historical photographs, maps, and other materials, he created a 3D model of this location, including more than eighty buildings.
The scholarship was presented by Mayor Tomáš Kirbs.

Pavel Falta, student of the Bachelor’s program in Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Science, UJEP
SCHOLARSHIP OF THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL OF THE ÚSTÍ REGION FOR THE BEST STUDENT IN TECHNICAL AND HEALTHCARE FIELDS AT UJEP
Pavel Falta is participating in the DIGITECH project, in collaboration with doctors from the Bulovka University Hospital, to develop advanced methods and processes for processing physiological signals from intensive care units. He implements artificial intelligence methods for detecting events in signals with the aim of automating the calculation of clinically relevant parameters, enabling personalized treatment, especially for patients with traumatic brain injuries.
The scholarship from the Economic and Social Council of the Ústí Region was presented by its chairman, Ing. Radek Vonka.
