Exosomes and their potential for use in biomedicine: Interview with our scientists on Thursday on Czech Radio
On Thursday, July 24, the Czech Radio North studio will discuss exosomes and their potential for future use in biomedicine. At 3:40 p.m., our scientists Olga Janoušková, Ph.D., and Michaela Kocholatá from the Center for Nanomaterials and Biotechnology at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, will appear on the program “O čem se mluví” (What People Are Talking About).
At our Center for Nanomaterials and Biotechnology (CENAB), we study vesicles, or extracellular vesicles, which cells naturally release into their surroundings. They carry important molecules and can be a clue to diagnosis or an aid in drug delivery.
We detect the vesicles using Nanosight and monitor how they enter cells – for example, using fluorescence microscopy. We work with vesicles from plant cultures, human cells, blood… and even slugs! We have bioreactors and sterile laboratories for their processing.
If you are interested in exosomes, you can watch a short video on how these miniature structures are changing biotechnology.
Dr. Regina Herma explains the functioning of cell vesicles in more detail in the following video, which was created on the occasion of Researchers’ Night 2022.
We talked about exosomes and research at the Center for Nanomaterials and Biotechnology (CENAB) with one of the respondents from ČRo Sever – Michaela Kocholata – in our ScienceTalks podcast.
