The Department of Physics invites you to a lecture titled “The ‘Best’ in Physics for 2025”
On Tuesday, May 12, at 4:00 p.m., Associate Professor Daniš will give a lecture titled “The ‘Best’ in Physics for 2025” at the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, UJEP. The event will take place in Room 2.38 on the second floor of the Center for Natural Sciences and Technical Disciplines (CPTO) building.
At the end of the year, Nobel Prizes are awarded for significant discoveries or contributions in various scientific fields. Although these prizes attract the most attention, scientists and engineers continuously publish more and more articles on interesting research. The lecture will look back at a selection of last year’s publications featured in the prestigious journals Nature and Science. It will introduce attendees to further research findings on samples from the asteroid Bennu and demonstrate how to create an atomically thin layer. It will address the question of whether there are storms on Mars and examine a peculiar supernova.
Registration for the lecture is required by May 10, 2026 HERE. (If you have not yet logged into the IDZ system, you must first register. Only high school or vocational school teachers may register in the system—not elementary school teachers).
Doc. RNDr. Stanislav Daniš, Ph.D., works at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics at Charles University in Prague and also at the Faculty of Science at UJEP. His research focuses primarily on X-ray structural analysis of materials of almost every kind and numerical methods. He also introduces students at both universities to these topics. He is interested in higher education pedagogy and is implementing improved teaching methods at universities. He is dedicated to popularizing science, enjoys photography and travel, and loves observing the night sky.
