The cyber competition kicks off on September 10. Students from the Faculty of Science at UJEP are also welcome to participate.

Are you interested in information technology, programming, or cybersecurity? Then don’t miss the 11th annual Czech National Cybersecurity Competition—Kybersoutěž—whose first round kicks off on September 10, 2026.

Kybersoutěž is open to elementary, high school, and college students aged 9 to 24, regardless of their school’s focus. Every year, it offers participants the opportunity to test their knowledge of cybersecurity, logical thinking, and solving practical security challenges. More than 55,000 students from nearly 450 schools across the Czech Republic have participated in previous editions.

The competition consists of four consecutive rounds. The first, introductory round will take place online from September 10 to October 18, 2026. The most successful contestants will then advance to subsequent rounds, which will test their ability to solve more challenging problems in the field of cybersecurity. The national finals will take place in the spring of 2027 in Prague.

Students from the Faculty of Science at UJEP regularly participate in the Cyber Competition and achieve very good results. Our Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem has also long supported the competition; the rector, Assoc. Prof. RNDr. Jaroslav Koutský, Ph.D., has personally assumed patronage of the competition.

The rector traditionally assumes patronage of the competition.

The Czech Republic’s National Cybersecurity Competition is not just about competition—it is about education, collaboration, and the future of cybersecurity in the Czech Republic.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness among the younger generation about the risks of the online environment in a fun and accessible way, to identify and support talented students, to connect them with experts from both the professional and academic worlds, and to provide methodological and informational support to educators. The competition allows participants to test and develop their knowledge of cybersecurity and information security, compare students’ proficiency levels across schools, and contribute to the systematic development of modern education in this rapidly evolving field.

Registration and detailed information about the competition are available on the Kybersoutěž website.

The first round of the competition will begin on September 10, 2026, with an online quiz and will run through October 18, 2026. You can register HERE.

So don’t hesitate—accept the challenge 😉

The competition is organized as one of the activities of European Cyber Security Month in the Czech Republic and is part of the European Commission’s European Cyber Security Challenge (ECSC) initiative, implemented by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA).

The competition is organized by the Cybersecurity Center, z.ú.
