Reform of teacher training at the Faculty of Science, University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně, continues

How can higher education be better linked to practice, and how should we respond to the current reform of teacher training? These are the main questions that teachers and school representatives from the Ústí nad Labem Region are currently seeking answers to. All this is under the auspices of the Center for Science Education Support (CPPV) at the Faculty of Science, Jan Evangelista Purkyně University, and as part of the RUR – Region for the University, University for the Region project.

“Our goal is not only to educate graduates, but to create a vibrant community where the university and regional schools help each other. The reform of teacher training is an opportunity for us to take this relationship to a new level,” says the guarantor of the preparation of the reform at UJEP, doc. PhDr. Kateřina Jančaříková, Ph.D.

School principals and other representatives from the Ústí nad Labem Region are actively involved in the preparation. They are currently focusing on key changes in the reform of teacher training for the period 2024–2028 in Czechia. At the same time, they are learning how the Faculty of Science at UJEP reflects the new requirements of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for the training of future teachers, how it integrates the Competence Framework for Teaching Graduates, and what other specific steps it is taking.

“We are pleased that the Faculty of Science at UJEP is firmly anchored in the transformation of education in the Ústí nad Labem Region, not only through this activity, and we are not afraid to seek inspiration beyond our borders,” adds Jančaříková.

The most recent meeting on the reform of the training of future teachers took place on January 15, 2026, at the Center for Science and Technical Education (CPTO) of the Faculty of Science at UJEP and was attended by 24 principals and representatives of schools from the Ústí nad Labem Region. Participants had the opportunity to present examples of good practice from their schools.
