Awarding of a medal to Professor Čapková
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary celebrations of the Faculty of Science at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, a commemorative medal was ceremoniously awarded to Professor RNDr. Pavla Čapková, DrSc., on November 27, 2025, for her contribution to the faculty in the field of applied nanotechnology.
Prof. RNDr. Pavla Čapková, DrSc., works at the Center for Nanomaterials and Biotechnology (CENAB). She is currently engaged in the development of nanostructured materials for the selective capture and reuse of gases, particularly hydrogen and carbon dioxide. She founded and leads a research team on nanofiber materials with laboratories for the preparation of nanofiber membranes with a wide range of uses, from medical applications to new-generation filtration media that degrade hazardous pollutants in the air and water environment, to nanocomposite membranes for the selective capture of gases from industrial processes and their reuse. She is a member of the executive board of the NanoEnviCz Large Research Infrastructure Consortium, which provides research services in the field of nanomaterial development for environmental protection to research organizations and industrial companies in the Czech Republic and abroad. She is currently working on research projects dealing with the capture and reuse of hydrogen and CO2 from recycling processes (especially plastics and biomass) and the development of nanomaterials for the safe storage and transport of hydrogen for hydrogen mobility. She is the recipient of the UJEP Rector’s Award for Science and Research in 2015, the Ústí Region Governor’s Award for Science Development in 2015, and the Georgia Agricola Medal from the Rector of the Technical University of Ostrava in 2015 for the development of science at VŠB TU Ostrava.
