Czech students at the University of Dresden: Experiences from the MATun project
Within the Czech-German project “MATun – World of Materials: Universities Together”, which connects the Faculty of Science of UJEP with the Technical University of Dresden, a number of interesting activities are taking place. One of them is the joint teaching of students in the framework of selective courses.
At the April project meeting, certificates of successful completion were presented to the first two students who successfully completed the Biomolecular Nanotechnology course at the University of Dresden during the winter semester of the academic year 2024/2025. Bc. Eliška Šlanhofová and Bc. Jakub Doubek, who are studying the follow-up Master’s degree in Applied Nanotechnology at our faculty, appreciated the opportunity to compare teaching abroad and mentioned that they appreciate the emphasis on practical examples and demonstrations in class. The certificates were ceremonially handed over to the students by Prof. RNDr. Pavla Čapková, DrSc., together with the Secretary of the Faculty Ing. Petr Lauterbach.
However, the MATun project continues – other courses run during the summer semester and often include practical work in laboratories. International cooperation thus offers students not only new knowledge but also valuable experience from a foreign academic environment.
The acronym of the MATun project is the name of the project “World of Materials – Universities Together”, which was approved by the Monitoring Committee of the EU Interreg Programme “Cross-Border Cooperation between the Free State of Saxony and the Czech Republic” in November 2023. Its project partner is the Institute of Materials Science of the Technical University of Dresden, a prestigious institute cooperating with research institutes such as the Fraunhofer Institute.
