Milan Šmídl advances to the semi-finals of the prestigious Global Teacher Prize 2025

Our colleague Milan Šmídl, Ph.D., a member of the Centre for the Support of Science Education and the Department of Chemistry at the Faculty of Science of the University of Applied Sciences and a chemistry teacher at the Schola Humanitas Secondary School in Litvínov, has been selected as a semi-finalist of the prestigious Global Teacher Prize 2025.

Global Teacher Prize Czech Republic is a professional award for primary and secondary school teachers. It has been implemented in the Czech Republic since 2017 by the non-profit organization EDUin, o. p. s. based on a license granted by the international Global Teacher Prize. At the same time, it strives to ensure that winning the award is not an end in itself, but a means of establishing mutual cooperation, harnessing the potential of the awarded teachers and expanding the impact of their teaching activities.

Semi-finalists are selected on the basis of their pedagogical approach, innovation in teaching and impact on students and the wider community.
The Global Teacher Prize Czech Republic 2025 is organized under the auspices of Czech President Petr Pavel.
The GTP CZ 2025 award ceremony will take place on 28 May 2025.

Milan Šmídl has long been dedicated to innovative methods of teaching science and inspiring students to explore the world through modern teaching approaches. His work at the Science Education Support Centre contributes to the popularisation of scientific disciplines and the motivation of the young generation to further study and research. He has a long-standing commitment to supporting practising chemistry teachers and popularising chemistry and teaching as a profession with the general public and candidates.
We congratulate Milan and wish him every success in the next round of the competition!
