Geography Teachers’ Day 2024: traditional event with current issues and practical tips

On Thursday, November 14, the Department of Geography in cooperation with the Centre for Support of Science Education organized Geography Teachers’ Day 2024, an educational event for geography teachers (not only) from Northwest Bohemia. This event has a firm place in the calendar (mid-November) and continues a long tradition of the Geography Department organising such events. This year over 60 teachers participated in the event, attending both professional and didactic lectures.

The programme was very varied, both in terms of content and “scale”. Among the expert lectures, Dr. Kristýna Rybová presented current trends in population geography and Dr. Jan Píša presented a paper on breaking down stereotypes about the Ústí nad Labem Region based on geographical data. Didactic lectures focused on the introduction of the Geography Olympiad (Dr. Petr Trahorsch), presentation of 3D printing tools (Dr. Petr Meyer) and examples of good practice in tandem teaching of geography (Mgr. Kateřina Krtičková).

We hope that future events for teachers will be at least as successful as this one.
