Project period: 2020-2022
Project description: The main goal of proposed project is to develop new generation of advanced multi-functional materials with revolutionary utilization in CO2 detection, capture, and recovery technology. The common approaches to solve this problem are based on expensive, rare materials, often requiring extreme conditions for CO2 chemical transformation. This project faces presented challenges by proposing a new generation of multi-functional material, based on plasmon-active metal nanostructure platform combined with metal organic framework (MOF). In particular, our project is aimed on preparation of materials which may be used also as remote optical carbon dioxide emission sensors (on the basis of plasmon-active optical fibers), selective carbon dioxide capture units (through the unique properties of MOFs structure) enabling lightswitchable smart CO2 release, followed by efficient implementation of further CO2 utilization in combination of renewable energy approach (sun-light triggering of hybrid materials for CO2 chemical transformation)
