Get to Know CENAB: Where Education Meets Research

What do physics, chemistry, biology, nanotechnology, and computer modeling have in common? At the Faculty of Science of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, they come together at the Center for Nanomaterials and Biotechnology (CENAB). Watch the video for a look inside the laboratories of our multidisciplinary research center.

The Center for Nanomaterials and Biotechnology (CENAB) is also the final stop in our video series, in which we have gradually introduced the individual departments of the UJEP Faculty of Science. From biology, physics, geography, chemistry, computer science, and mathematics, we’ve now arrived at interdisciplinary research.

CENAB is an interdisciplinary research center that brings together experts from various fields of the natural sciences. It focuses on both basic and applied research into nanomaterials and their applications in areas such as environmental protection, health, and medicine. It also explores the interactions of nanomaterials with biological systems and the development of microfluidic devices for biology, biotechnology, and medical diagnostics.

Research and study naturally intertwine here. Students can thus explore modern science not only through theoretical instruction but also in an environment where new knowledge is generated and practical applications are sought. Research is integrated with education through the Applied Nanotechnology program at all three levels—bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral—as well as through the Biology program.

At the Faculty of Science at UJEP, you can study in an environment where cutting-edge research is actually being conducted.

🎥What does this environment look like in practice? Watch our video, in which students and faculty members will give you a tour of CENAB.

In our video series, we’ve gradually introduced you to the departments of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at UJEP. Whether you’re choosing your first college or thinking about continuing your studies, learn about our programs and find the one that’s right for you.

We are accepting applications for the second round of the admissions process until August 16, 2026.
