Awards That Can Launch a Career. The 78th Congress of Chemists Will Feature a Range of Competitions for Both Young and Experienced Scientists
Present your research to the scientific community, receive valuable feedback, make new contacts, and perhaps even take home one of the prestigious awards from Ústí nad Labem. The 78th Congress of Chemists, to be held September 7–10, 2026, at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, will offer just such an opportunity.
In addition to a rich professional program, the Congress will also feature competitions and awards aimed at supporting high-quality scientific work and talented researchers. Awards will be presented across various fields of chemistry and technical sciences, and participants can compete for the 2026 SHIMADZU Award, the ČEZ Foundation Award, the Award of the Rector of Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem, the Award of the Dean of the Faculty of Science at UJEP, the Award of the Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at UJEP, the Anton Paar Czech Republic s.r.o. Award, and the Award of the Dean of the Faculty of Chemical Technology at the University of Pardubice.
Young scientists under the age of 30 may be particularly interested in the SHIMADZU 2026 Award. It is intended for authors of papers in the field of analytical chemistry that utilize separation methods, spectroscopic methods, or mass spectrometry. Ten finalists will advance to the final round, where they will present their results in a separate section of the conference. Cash prizes of 800, 600, and 400 euros await the best presentations.
Another opportunity is the ČEZ Foundation Award, in which five winners will receive a cash prize of 2,000 CZK. The award is intended to encourage the active participation of students and early-career researchers in professional discussions and the presentation of their own findings.
However, competitions are not just about prizes. Participating in the conference offers a unique opportunity to present one’s own research to the professional community, gain inspiration for future work, network with colleagues from other institutions, and meet representatives of leading companies in the chemical industry and related fields.
Moreover, the 78th Congress of Chemists will take place in the year that Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem commemorates the 35th anniversary of its founding.
