International Mathematics Day at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, featured on ČT24
On March 14, our faculty celebrated International Mathematics Day, also known as “π Day.” The Department of Mathematics prepared a rich program for visitors of all ages, featuring contests, games, brain teasers, lectures, and celebrations of this mathematical holiday, which is observed by mathematicians and math enthusiasts around the world.
PhDr. Magdalena Krátká, Ph.D., and PhDr. Jiří Přibyl, Ph.D., from the Department of Mathematics personally invited visitors to the International Mathematics Day celebrations at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, during a live segment on the Studio ČT24 program broadcast on ČT24.
During the interview, viewers learned not only about the π Day celebration program at our faculty, but also about the history of International Mathematics Day, the fields of mathematics our academics in the Department of Mathematics specialize in, and even the level of mathematical knowledge and interest among students in the Czech Republic. The interview also touched on students’ preparation for high school entrance exams and explored ways to train the brain in mathematical thinking throughout one’s life.
