Even math has its own holiday. Join us in celebrating this year’s “π Day”

The Department of Mathematics invites you to the 7th floor of the Center for Natural Sciences and Technical Fields building on Saturday, March 14, 2026, for “π Day”—a fun celebration of International Mathematics Day filled with workshops, contests, games, tournaments, origami, and other activities.

On the 14th day of the 3rd month, mathematicians around the world celebrate International Mathematics Day. The date was chosen in honor of Ludolf’s number, or “pi,” which has a value of 3.14 in decimal notation in one of its most common approximations.

The Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, in cooperation with the Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists, p.s. Ústí nad Labem, has prepared the following program:

a lecture on Pi Day,
an escape room,
Leonardo’s Bridge,
estimating the value of π,
mathematical game tournaments,
the history of π,
origami,
and much more.
The program will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on the 7th floor of the CPTO building (Department of Mathematics) on the UJEP Campus.
