You can visit the exhibition of photographs by Zdeněk Picpauer at CPTO until February 2026.
On Wednesday, December 3, together with the author of the exhibition, Zdeněk Picpauer, a student at the Faculty of Art and Design at the University of Jan Evangelista Purkyně (UJEP), and representatives of the management of the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Environment at UJEP, we opened an exhibition of photographs entitled “Landscape That Breathes.” The exhibition can be viewed in the CPTO lobby until the end of February 2026.
Zdeněk Picpauer, the author of the exhibition, won the April photography competition “Earth and Climate” with his photograph of bees, which prompted the organization of the author’s solo exhibition.
“In the exhibition Landscape That Breathes, I present a selection of photographs taken over the last four years, mainly while observing the fauna and flora around us – in fine detail and from a broader perspective. I am not interested in depicting the landscape as a whole, but rather the quiet places and small moments that shape it and which we often pass by without noticing. I would be delighted if visitors came to experience the exhibition in person. The photographs on display are not just a document, they are an encounter with a landscape that has its own rhythm, strength, and fragility,” explains the author.
The selection of twenty-eight photographs connects authentic moments from the author’s time in nature and his close relationship with the landscape. “For me, each photograph represents a specific moment when I was in direct contact with the surrounding landscape. I chose images that convey a strong personal experience and the authentic atmosphere of the situation,” adds Zdeněk Picpauer.
According to Zdeněk Picpauer, one of the most powerful photographs in the exhibition is Vitráž přírody (Stained Glass of Nature), taken in the early morning hours among the blades of grass in his family’s garden. Visitors are also likely to be interested in the photograph In Prague, which captures wild nature right in the capital city, and the minimalist Untitled, which leaves room for personal interpretation by the viewer.
The exhibition can be viewed in the lobby of the Center for Natural Sciences and Technical Fields (CPTO) on the UJEP Campus until February 27, 2026, except for the Christmas holidays from December 24, 2025, to January 4, 2026, when the building will be closed.
