The ceremonial presentation of the 2025 Rector’s Awards will take place tomorrow in the Red Hall of the MFC UJEP.

The 25th annual UJEP Rector’s Awards ceremony will take place on December 11 at 3:00 p.m. in the Red Hall of the MFC UJEP. The Rector’s Awards recognize outstanding scientific, pedagogical, artistic, and applied achievements, as well as exceptional student performance and long-term contributions by technical and administrative staff.

A total of 38 students and employees of the Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem will receive public awards for their work, studies, or creative activities on December 11, 2025. A total of 630,000 crowns will be distributed among them.

“The Rector’s Awards are an annual reminder that the university’s successes are based on the work of leading figures in science, teaching, art, and the school’s professional background. I am glad that thanks to these awards, we can highlight not only excellent results, but also human qualities and dedication to the academic community,” says UJEP Rector Jaroslav Koutský.

The ceremony traditionally includes the presentation of scholarships from university donors who recognize the most successful and active students. A dozen long-time student supporters, including the cities of Ústí nad Labem, Teplice, and Trmice, the Ústí nad Labem city districts, the Ústí nad Labem Economic and Social Council, and health insurance companies, selected 16 students and graduates for the 2024/2025 academic year, to whom they will distribute a total of CZK 190,000 in the form of one-time scholarships.

Rector’s Awards 2025 – what resonates most this year
This year’s Rector’s Awards show that UJEP relies on experts who push the boundaries of knowledge in science, art, and teaching. The most resonant achievements are in physical
modeling, nanomaterials, ecological research, and energy economics, as well as projects that have had a significant international response. Applied research with a direct impact on practice and recognition of employees who have long ensured the professional running of the university also play an important role.

Donor Scholarships 2024/2025 – the most interesting student stories
This year’s donor scholarships recognize students who significantly help people in practice, develop regional topics, and bring innovation to technical and medical fields. The stories of students working with children with neurodevelopmental difficulties, seniors, or patients after injuries resonate strongly, as does work contributing to understanding communities and the history of the region through 3D reconstructions, ecological studies, or social science analyses.

The ceremony for the presentation of the Rector’s Awards and donor scholarships will take place on December 11, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in the Red Hall of the Multifunctional Information and Education Center of the UJEP.
