From white water to academia: Lenka Bauerová on the ScienceTalks podcast
In the latest episode of the faculty podcast ScienceTalks, we spoke with Lenka Bauerová, PR officer at the Faculty of Science at UJEP and world champion in rafting.
How does the world of university PR connect with the adrenaline-fueled sport of whitewater rafting? What do academics and rafters have in common – and what sets them apart? We talked about first impressions of the faculty, the pitfalls of communication in the public sphere, but also what top-level competitive training entails, how to steer a raft in extreme conditions, and why not a drop of alcohol is allowed on the water during competitions.
Lenka shared her experiences from world championships with us and explained the differences between types of boats, racing disciplines, and rivers – from Czech classics to exotic water challenges. In addition to her personal story, she also offered practical tips for anyone who would like to start rafting – safely and with respect for the river.
Listen to an inspiring interview with a person who handles PR campaigns and water rapids with the same enthusiasm and precision.
