
Students from three faculties of UJEP met in Liberec as part of the “PraStud” project.
26During a two-day programme in Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou, 15 students of the J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem met on 21-22 May 2025 within the international project “PraStud – Professionally oriented studies in the border region” to get to know not only new technologies but also each other. The rich program consisted of several workshops, excursions and brought the students not only new knowledge and common experiences.
The two-day program was implemented within the framework of the project “PraStud” which is part of the Interreg Czech-Saxon 2021 -2027 program and focuses on promoting career-oriented studies in the border region. The event was attended by 15 students from the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Education of UJEP.
All started with two professional workshops at the Technical University of Liberec. The first one focused on how to teach computers to understand human speech and how automatic transcription of videos works using AI. The topic was presented by doc. Ing. Petr Červa, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Mechatronics, Informatics and Interdisciplinary Studies at TUL.
The second workshop opened an ethical and very topical question: How can artificial intelligence contribute to fairer decision-making in the field of human resources? Prof. Dr. Albrecht Löhr from Duale Hochschule Sachsen and Assoc. Daniela Šálková, Ph.D. from the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen.
On the second day, the participants went to Jablonec nad Nisou, where they tried the production of beads and pearls in the company G&B beads, s.r.o. as part of a creative workshop.
The whole event ended with a common lunch and a final meeting. The students agreed that in addition to new knowledge, they took away valuable contacts, experiences and new experiences across faculties and borders.
