Cybersecurity is a key issue of our time and its importance is growing. Therefore, the Department of Informatics of the Faculty of Science of UJEP has long been cooperating with the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic to address current challenges in this area. This cooperation focuses on research, innovation and education. These activities contribute to strengthening the protection of critical systems and the development of future professionals.
Joint projects and research
Our experts and students are involved in a number of projects focused on:
- security risk analysis – examining vulnerabilities of information systems and designing measures to increase protection,
- development of security policies and methodologies – creating standardized procedures and recommendations to increase the level of cybersecurity,
- testing the resilience of IT infrastructures – simulating cyber attacks and analyzing defense strategies,
- protecting user devices and data – examining methods of security breaches and designing effective countermeasures,
- circumventing and strengthening security mechanisms – analysing the potential for misuse of permissions and safeguards to enhance their effectiveness,
- security monitoring and threat detection – using modern technologies, including artificial intelligence, to identify and prevent security incidents.
The Department of Informatics also provides expert advice to selected Ministry staff.
Student Involvement
Active student involvement is an important part of the collaboration. They have the unique opportunity to work on real projects and gain practical experience in the field of cyber security. The cooperation allows them to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and prepare for a career in the field.
The future of cooperation
We plan to further deepen our cooperation in the future, with the long-term goal of creating a centre of expertise in cyber security. This should link academia with the needs of government.
