UJEP students discovered Albania in September
The Department of Geography of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ljubljana organized a foreign excursion to Albania in September. In addition to practical knowledge of new landscapes and cultures of the Balkan region, the excursion was also focused on interdisciplinary cooperation. Students from six different faculties of our university participated in it.
From September 8 to 18, 2024, the participants of the excursion traveled to Albania, Hungary, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Montenegro. The program included visits to important cities such as Skopje, Tirana, Budapest, etc., as well as a tour of ancient monuments in Durres. In the Mavrovo and Thethi national parks, the students went to karst caves and mountain lakes.
The travelers brought not only valuable knowledge and experience from the eleven-day trip, but also new friendships.
The Department of Geography plans to continue organizing similar excursions in the future. Their goal will be to further develop the practical skills of students and support interdisciplinary cooperation.
“This excursion was the third in a row and in the future we would like to travel the world with the students again, considering the possibility of a trip to Norway,” describe the organizers from the Department of Geography Michaela Štěbetáková and Ondřej Šmíd.
The students will present their experiences from the trip, along with travel diaries and photos, during the Geography Days at the Faculty of Science, UJEP from November 11 to 13, 2024.
