Do you know someone who is changing the world? Nominate them for the Jan Opletal Award.
Do you have a young person around you who is changing the world? Then you too can nominate them for the Jan Opletal Awards, online, until October 25, 2024. The Jan Opletal Awards are awards from students (not only) for students. For anyone who somehow changes their environment.
The awards are given in three categories:
A university student or a university graduate within two years of graduation for their contribution to the academic community.
A high school student or a high school graduate within two years of graduation for their contribution to the high school environment.
Personalities under the age of 30 for civic engagement, public awareness, volunteering or other socially beneficial activities.
The Jan Opletal Awards – awards to young people who are changing their environment in and outside of school are awarded by the Student Chamber of the University Council and the Dzieci, že mójem association. The first prize was awarded by the student chamber in 2004.
The prize is awarded on the occasion of the anniversary of the tragic death of Jan Opletal, a student of the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, who was fatally injured during an anti-Nazi demonstration in 1939. His sacrifice became a symbol of the continued fight for freedom.
The prizes are awarded for exceptional contributions to the development of the academic community or school environment, support for democracy and freedom, defense of academic, student and human rights, fight against injustice, for equal treatment and opportunities or against any discrimination.
The contribution of young people to social life can be completely local – even this can change the view on topics of importance to society as a whole.
Anyone can nominate using a simple form on the project website until October 25, 2024.
