Some time ago, we introduced you to the interfaculty project Mosaic of Actors of Change in the Ústí nad Labem Region, which is implemented by the Faculty of Socio-Economics together with experts from the Department of Geography of our faculty. “Mosaic” presents the stories of people in our region who, through their activities and initiatives, are trying to change the region for the better. Individual stories of actors of change in the region are presented by Czech Radio Sever every Friday in the program Dopolední expres.
Mosaic of Changes in the Region maps the stories of actors and, through a new website, presents economic, social and environmental initiatives that are changing our region for the better.
Ing. Natálie Čermáková, a doctoral student at the Faculty of Socio-Economics at UJEP, in cooperation with Mgr. Jan Píša, Ph.D., from the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Science at UJEP, played a key role in the creation of the Mosaic. The expert guarantor of the project is doc. Ing. Lenka Slavíková, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Socio-Economics at UJEP.
The project also includes a catalogue of actors of change, available in the form of clear tiles and an interactive map, which allows you to discover inspiring initiatives across the entire Ústí nad Labem Region. The Mosaic remains an open project and will continue to be supplemented with other stories of positive change.
“Our Mosaic of regional changes has so impressed the reporters of Czech Radio Sever that they decided to dedicate a series of reports to the individual stories that we present on the Mosaic website as part of the Dopolední expres program,” explained Jan Píša from the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Science.

At a recent meeting of the actors of the Mosaic of Changes of the region, the Dobroměřice kindergarten was awarded for the social area as an exceptionally inspiring activity and concept combining environmental education instilling the principles of sustainability in the youngest children from the village in Louna and their families. They participated in the creation of an edible garden that teaches the care that needs to be put into food production before it reaches the school cafeteria window.
