The Department of Computer Science invites you to a lecture: AI in Healthcare – tomorrow
The Department of Computer Science at the Faculty of Science, UJEP, invites students and members of the public to a specialized lecture on March 5 dedicated to the practical application of artificial intelligence in healthcare, specifically in the analysis of X-ray images in dentistry. The lecture will take place on Thursday, March 5, from 3:00 p.m. to 3:50 p.m. in Auditorium 1.03 at CPTO.
The lecture will be led by Jan Svoboda, founder and CEO of XDENT (Infinity Energy, s.r.o.), a company that develops and operates AI systems deployed directly in clinical practice. This is not a laboratory experiment—the AI system being presented is currently in pilot operation in a real-world setting and is used by more than 1,300 healthcare facilities.
The lecture will focus on the architecture of production-grade AI for medical data, segmentation and detection of findings in X-ray images, the issue of data heterogeneity, the challenges of medical data annotation, and finding a balance between model sensitivity and accuracy. It will also explore the difference between purely image-based detection and the actual medical context of clinical decision-making.
The lecture will also include a discussion on the future of AI in healthcare and opportunities for students to get involved through bachelor’s and master’s theses, research projects, or work with anonymized real-world data.
